Multi-room electrification

Ducted gas heater → Daikin multi-split

A multi-split can suit homes that need independent room control while keeping the number of outdoor units down. We assess the room loads, connected capacity, pipe routes, electrical supply and outdoor location as one system.

VEU example

10 kW household multi-split example

The Victorian Government currently gives an indicative example of up to $2,940 where an eligible ducted whole-of-home gas heater is replaced by a multi-split with a 10 kW outdoor unit. The actual discount must be confirmed for the approved product and activity.

VEU heating & cooling rules are changing

Victoria has announced changes from 30 September 2026, including a $3,000 minimum co-payment (including GST) for ducted reverse-cycle and multi-split systems with cooling capacity of 10 kW or more, plus a residential multi-split incentive cap. We confirm the rules and rebate value that apply on the date of your installation.

Design matters

What we verify before recommending multi-split

Room heat loads

Indoor-unit capacities are matched to each area rather than selected only by floor area.

Combination limits

Total connected capacity and simultaneous demand must stay within the manufacturer’s compatible combinations.

Pipe routes

Line lengths, vertical separation, branching and future service access influence design and cost.

Outdoor location

Airflow clearance, noise, drainage and practical service access are checked before final placement.

Electrical supply

Circuit requirements and switchboard capacity are assessed before installation.

Property layout

If the home is better suited to ducted reverse cycle, we explain the trade-offs instead of forcing a multi-split.
