Victorian Energy Upgrades

VEU questions — clear answers before you commit.

Eligibility, rebates, co-payments, gas removal, product approval, system sizing, hot water and what M.F.A Services needs for an accurate quote.

Is every Victorian household eligible to participate?

The Victorian Government states that all Victorian households can access heating and cooling discounts, including private rental properties. The specific upgrade must still satisfy the activity rules and use eligible products.

Is the advertised VEU amount guaranteed?

No. Government figures are indicative. The final discount depends on the old appliance, exact replacement products, system capacity, certificate value, installation date and current VEU rules.

Can my own installer provide the VEU discount?

The government advises that an installer can work with an accredited provider, but that relationship and the rebate pathway must be arranged before work starts.

Why do you ask for photos before quoting?

Photos help identify the existing heater or hot-water unit, model label, access, electrical conditions and likely installation complexity. They also reduce follow-up questions.

Does a large rebate mean I should choose the largest system?

No. Oversizing can reduce comfort, efficiency and system life. We select capacity around the actual heating/cooling load and current VEU sizing requirements.

What changes on 30 September 2026?

For space heating and cooling, current VEU specifications introduce new incentive caps and a $3,000 minimum co-payment for ducted reverse-cycle and multi-split systems with cooling capacity of 10 kW or more. Multi-splits below 10 kW retain a $1,000 minimum co-payment.

Can ducted gas heating be replaced by multiple splits?

Yes, where the home layout and VEU pathway suit. A current household example is four split systems comprising one 8 kW and three 3 kW systems, with an indicative discount up to $2,520.

Can ducted gas heating be replaced by a multi-split?

Yes. A current household example uses a 10 kW multi-split outdoor unit with an indicative discount up to $2,940, subject to current rules and product eligibility.

How much can ducted gas to ducted reverse-cycle receive?

Current household examples are up to $2,520 at 10 kW, $4,200 at 16 kW and $5,530 at 22.4 kW.

What about a fixed room gas heater?

Replacing an eligible non-ducted room gas heater with a 3–9 kW reverse-cycle air conditioner currently has indicative discounts from $630 to $1,610.

What are the current hot-water examples?

Current Victorian Government examples are up to $560 for eligible gas hot-water replacement and $630 for eligible inefficient electric hot-water replacement with a heat pump.

Does every Daikin model qualify for VEU?

No. The exact model must be eligible for the relevant activity at the time of installation. We verify the proposed model before the VEU job proceeds.

Why Daikin Super Multi NX?

Daikin currently offers 5.2, 6.8, 8.0 and 10.0 kW Super Multi NX outdoor units using R32, with up to five indoor units and individual indoor control.

Why Daikin hot water?

Daikin’s current CO₂ heat-pump hot-water system uses R744 refrigerant, has an advertised 10-year Parts & Labour Warranty subject to terms, optional Airbase Wi-Fi control and is installed through appointed Daikin Hot Water Specialists.

What should I include in an enquiry?

Full address, suburb and postcode, phone number, photos of the old system and data label, the type of new system you are considering, and photos of access or switchboard where relevant.
